Clopay opener logic board repair in Dallas typically runs $120 to $320 installed, and we stock compatible boards for most Clopay models produced in the last 15 years. In most Dallas neighborhoods, we can have a technician out the same day you call, diagnose the board on the spot, and have your opener running before dinner. Here is how most people find out the board is the problem: the opener starts acting erratically for no obvious reason. The motor runs when it should not. The remotes stop working after years of working fine. Or the lights flicker and the opener refuses to respond to the wall button. None of these mean you need a new opener. In more than half the Clopay calls we run in Dallas, the logic board is the culprit, and replacing it gets another five to seven years out of the machine you already own.
Which Clopay Models This Applies To
Clopay openers are made by several manufacturers under the Clopay name, and the logic board inside depends on the era and the model line. The most common Clopay models we see in Dallas garages are the Clopay 101, 201, and 301 series, plus the older chain-drive units from the mid-2000s that came bundled with Clopay doors installed by local builders. The logic board is the flat green or blue circuit panel inside the opener’s plastic housing, usually held in place by two or four screws. It controls everything: motor direction, travel limits, safety sensor input, and remote signal processing. The quick way to identify your board is to open the light lens cover and look for a small white sticker with a part number. If the number starts with 41A, 41C, or 41D, it is a Chamberlain-built board, and we keep the compatible replacement on the truck. If you do not see a sticker, take a photo with your phone and text it to us at (972) 362-1457, and Aaron Teague will match it before we ever roll a truck.
One thing Dallas owners should know: Clopay does not sell direct to the public for opener electronics. The OEM board for a Clopay opener is the same board used in certain Chamberlain and LiftMaster models of the same era, which means a quality OEM-equivalent board is available for less than what a dealer would charge. We install both OEM and OEM-equivalent boards, and we will tell you the difference in plain terms before you pay a dollar.

Signs Your Clopay Opener Logic Board Is Failing
- The wall button works, but the remotes do not. The receiver circuit on the board stops reading the rolling code signal from your remotes. You can reprogram the remotes, but if the board keeps losing the code every few days, the receiver is done.
- The opener runs when nothing is pressed. A failing relay on the board can send voltage to the motor without a command. This is the one to take seriously. Unplug the opener or pull the release cord until we get there, because an opener that runs on its own is unpredictable and can damage the door.
- The lights flicker and the opener hums, but the door does not move. The board is not sending the motor enough clean signal to start under load. The capacitor may also be old, but we check both when we diagnose.
- The door reverses halfway down for no reason. This is usually confused with a sensor problem, but when the sensors are clean and aligned and the door still reverses, the board’s logic circuit is misreading the input. Common in Dallas during the summer when heat and humidity push old solder joints past their limit.
- The opener works intermittently, then stops, then works again a day later. Classic failing-board behavior. Hairline cracks in the solder joints expand and contract with temperature swings, which is why the opener works fine in the morning and quits in the afternoon heat of a Dallas garage. It will not fix itself.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Clopay opener logic board repair in Dallas runs $120 to $320 installed, and that number includes the board, the labor to install and program it, and a full reset of travel limits and force settings. The price range comes down to which board your specific Clopay model needs. Older units with discontinued boards at the lower end, newer DC-motor units with more complex boards at the higher end. Here is the breakdown:
- Compatible logic board (OEM or OEM-equivalent): $45 to $135 depending on the model year
- Labor for diagnosis, installation, and reprogramming: $75 to $185
- Travel limit and force recalibration: included, always
- Written 365-Day Done Right Promise: included on every board we install
Before we touch anything, we hand you a written price. Not a verbal estimate. A written price for the exact board, the exact labor, and the exact total. If we open the unit and find the board is fine but the capacitor or the wall button is the real issue, we stop, show you what we found, and hand you a new written price before proceeding. No surprises, no “while we’re in there” upsells. The price is the price.
DIY or Call Us?
The logic board itself is low-voltage and not dangerous to handle the way a torsion spring is. That said, Clopay opener electronics have a compatibility gotcha that trips up a lot of Dallas DIYers: the board’s part number must match the opener’s exact motor revision, and installing a board with the wrong revision will either not power up or will run the motor in reverse. We have seen both happen. The other honest truth: the board sits inside a housing that also contains the capacitor, which holds a charge even after the unit is unplugged. If you short that capacitor against the metal rail while prying out the old board, you will get a spark, a scare, and possibly a burned new board. If you are set on doing it yourself, unplug the unit, discharge the capacitor safely, and match the part number exactly. If any of that sounds like more than you signed up for, call (972) 362-1457 and we will handle it. We install, program, and test the board in about an hour, and we leave your remotes and wall button working like the day the opener was new.
Tell me what it is doing wrong and I will tell you exactly what it needs, no guessing, no padding the ticket.
FAQs
In a Dallas garage, expect seven to twelve years out of a Clopay logic board. The heat is the killer. Garages in Dallas routinely hit triple digits from June through September, and repeated heat cycles fatigue the solder joints on these boards faster than the opener’s mechanical parts wear out. If your opener is older than ten years and the board has failed, a replacement board will usually outlast the remaining life of the motor.
Technically yes, but practically no. The failure is almost always a cracked solder joint or a burned relay, and while a bench technician can reflow solder or replace a relay, the repair rarely holds up in a garage environment and the cost approaches the price of a new compatible board. We install new boards because they carry a warranty and they do not come back. Call (972) 362-1457 if you want us to diagnose whether your board is worth saving before you spend anything.
Under an hour for most Clopay models. Diagnosis takes ten to fifteen minutes, board installation another twenty, and then we reprogram remotes, reset travel limits, and run the opener through five full cycles to confirm everything holds. You get your garage back the same day, usually within two hours total of when you call.
Yes. Our Dallas trucks carry compatible logic boards for most Clopay openers made since 2008, along with parts for LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Genie openers. If your Clopay is older than that, we may need to source the board the same day from our local distributor, which usually adds only a few hours, not days.
